At the moment I am setting up a blog for a Chattered Insurance Institute. They needed a direct communications tool because their members had to rely on newspaper snippets.

The Requirements:

.

• The idea was to create a blog where more than one author can post articles.
• Some articles may only be available to members. These articles must be password restricted.
• A forum is required for open and private discussions.
• A social network for individuals
• A place where groups can be created by individuals.

This can be done using Buddypress, bbPress and Wordpress Multi Blog at iLocals.Info. You therefore have a full blown Wordpress blog option with a social network option.

I have just add a nice hunter theme to iLocals.Info multi blog. If you have your own Wordpress  blog down load it here or if you want a hunters blog go and create one here.

The next two videos will give you and idea how to blog.

Please note that the so called dashboard that you’ll use to blog has been upgraded to a new version. The first video shows the changes and introduce you to it. The second video was made for the old dash board. And although the buttons and navigation has moved the basic essentials are the same.

You can become more social by turning your iLocals.info blog into a community blog. All you need to do to see how this works is to sign in or signup. And you can go to add a new post.

How to as explained by the creator of the community blog plugin:

Community Blogs settings are configured in the Settings > Community Blog admin form which is available to blog admins.

• Enable this plugin: which turns off new user registrations but leaves the plugin activated
• Default User Role: for new users as Editor, Author or Contributor
• Allow All Registered Users: when set to Yes then any member of the BP community can become a registered user at the default role on that blog. When set to No the Community Blogs plugin becomes a Group Blogs plugin.
• Groups To Allow Access: is a list of the BuddyPress Groups that can become registered users. More that one group can be given access if you like. The group slugs are used to specify what groups have immediate registration access to the blog. This allows blog admins to configure the plugin without the Site Admin having to give them group ids. If the blog admin can find the group slug they can configure access.

When you write an article you write for the search engines and you write to capture the attention of your readers. It’s not difficult if you know the basics. One of the first books I read made such an impression on me that I felt obliged to share it with you.
